What is Contentsquare?
Contentsquare is a digital experience analytics platform that shows how people move through websites and apps using heatmaps, session replay, journey maps, funnels and surveys. It helps teams find where visitors struggle and estimate how much revenue that friction costs. The platform covers web and mobile apps, and it now also tracks journeys from AI assistants and LLM-driven traffic.
Hotjar joined the Contentsquare Group in July 2025, and its heatmaps, recordings and surveys now live inside Contentsquare. The product is split into experience analytics, product analytics, voice of customer and experience monitoring, with Sense AI providing summaries and answers about your data. Unlike its earlier enterprise-only model, Contentsquare now offers a free plan and a self-serve Growth tier.

Contentsquare FAQ
Is Contentsquare free?
Yes. Contentsquare has a free experience analytics plan with 200,000 sessions per month, one project and one month of data. It includes replays, heatmaps, funnels, error monitoring and basic surveys. New accounts also get a 15-day trial of the Growth plan with no payment details required. Once monthly sessions run out, new heatmap and funnel data stops until the reset.
Is Hotjar now Contentsquare?
Yes. Hotjar became part of the Contentsquare Group on 1 July 2025. Hotjar's website now points new users to Contentsquare, and its heatmaps, recordings and surveys are available inside the Contentsquare platform. New users sign up for Contentsquare's free plan rather than a Hotjar plan.
What is Contentsquare used for?
Contentsquare is used to understand how visitors use websites and apps. Teams watch session replays, read heatmaps, map journeys and run surveys to find friction. They then use impact analysis to decide which fixes will most improve conversions, and monitor errors and performance. It also adds AI summaries through Sense AI.
Contentsquare vs FullStory: what's the difference?
Both offer session replay, heatmaps and funnels. Contentsquare emphasizes zone-based heatmaps, revenue impact analysis and voice of customer tools, and now publishes a self-serve Growth plan. FullStory focuses on complete data capture, product analytics and StoryAI, with paid plans priced through sales. Contentsquare also includes Hotjar's former tools for surveys and interviews.
How much does Contentsquare cost?
Contentsquare has a free plan. The Growth plan is listed at $49 a month, or $39 a month with annual billing, and the price rises with your session tier. Pro and Enterprise plans are custom priced after a demo. Growth plans have no annual contract and a 30-day money-back guarantee for new accounts.
